The E-Heater aims to electrify and decarbonize industrial heating processes by developing large-scale induction electrical heaters with integrated thermal energy storage. The project has successfully validated the electromagnetic inductive heater concept and is now expanding through partnerships to test a full-scale 7.5 MW pilot, with plans to convert coal power plants into Large Duration Energy Storage facilities.

The Innovation Center Orlando is developing a Direct Air Carbon Capture (DAC) solution to pull CO2 directly from the atmosphere for reuse or permanent underground sequestration, addressing the limitations of conventional abatement technologies like wind and solar in achieving Net Zero emissions. The successful completion of a DAC demonstrator unit within a year has positioned Siemens Energy among a select group of global companies capturing CO2, with further plans to scale up the technology through partnerships and feasibility studies.

The new Innovation Automation Lab is more than a physical space. It was built to move concepts to operational reality faster, safer, and with higher confidence. It allows us to connect real hardware (controllers, power electronics, machine subsystems, test beds) into virtual, simulated, or scaled physical environments. This creates a closed-loop environment where we can test:

New control strategies
New automation methods
New digital twins
AI-based optimization
System-level behaviors
Failure modes and resilience scenarios (stress testing)

All before the technology ever touches a plant, the field or a customer site.

On Monday, Siemens Energy opened a new chapter in grid modernization with the launch of our Grid AI Lab at the Innovation Center Orlando, a capability we’re proud to build here in the U.S., with North America helping lead the path in grid innovation.

This new facility brings together engineering expertise, AI capability, and advanced computing power to help utilities address some of the toughest challenges facing today’s electric grid—resilience, reliability, and extreme weather.

Our main focus in 2026 is accelerating speed to power – how can we help our customers bring more power (and bring it faster) - to more people in the U.S. and Canada.

As part of my continued road trip, I kicked off the year with a behind-the-scenes look at our new construction project in Charlotte, where we’ve started building what will become our new large power transformer factory to help address the national transformer shortage and reduce multi-year lead times for grid-connected loads.

Houston is a city where I spent the first decade of my career. In many ways, it’s still the same place I remember: a place with a true entrepreneurial spirit and a real commitment to “getting stuff done.”

It’s also a city of expansion: population-wise, metro Houston is now ~7.8M people, - among the fastest-growing major U.S. cities. All that growth also means a critical need for more energy, in all forms. At Siemens Energy, we’re ready to help customers meet that momentum, with reliable technologies for oil and gas, for generation, for stronger grids, and for renewables too.

Our “road trip” took us to Germany, where we honored the incredible talent behind our Passion for Energy Awards—a celebration of innovation and collaboration.

North America was awarded with the Innovation of the Year Award! This recognition celebrates groundbreaking ideas that deliver real business impact for Siemens Energy and our customers. Our SMART Pricing Methodology, powered by data and AI, is optimizing costs and driving additional profit—positioning us as an industry leader.

As an AI enthusiast, grid technologist, and Florida resident, this one feels special. Yesterday, we opened our first Siemens Energy Grid AI Lab in Orlando, focused on one of the biggest challenges of our time: modernizing and future‑proofing our electricity grids.

We celebrated this huge step together with Mayor Buddy Dyer, our Head of Digital Grid Adnan Chaudhry, key partners like NVIDIA, SoftServe and World Wide Technology, customers, as well as colleagues – all aligned around the mission of making the grid ready for the future.

Electrification and AI keep driving electricity demand – outpacing what our grids were built for. As a resilient grid infrastructure is the basis for our #EnergySecurity, we must modernize and expand our grids as fast as possible.

To provide the grid technologies needed, at Siemens Energy, we’re ramping up our production capacities worldwide. At the same time, we can immediately unlock even more potential by using our existing capacities more efficiently: for example, by more standardization.

As electricity demand keeps surging, we must rethink how to plan energy infrastructure smarter, execute faster, and partner stronger.

Industry leaders and policymakers in Houston last week demonstrated their will to drive this progress. At Siemens Energy, we’re also doing our bit. For example, by ramping up manufacturing capacities in the U.S. with a $1 billion investment. But robust equipment supply is just one piece of the puzzle, as discussed with David Rosner, David Brast and Philippe Frangules.

What a strong start to fiscal year 2026! And our Grid Technologies business once again contributed significantly to such impressive first quarter performance: orders rose by nearly 22%, revenue grew by about 27%, and our profit margin reached almost 18%.

A huge thank you to the team for continuing this excellent work, as we keep modernizing and expanding vital grid infrastructure around the world.

Today’s energy systems face massive challenges. Growing electricity demand, soaring renewables, extreme weather events, aging infrastructure, and rapid digitalization – all of which add complexity, especially to the grid infrastructure.

That’s why, at Siemens Energy, we envision the future grid as digital, interconnected, and above all intelligent. Capable of turning insights into action.

Our vision for such a grid now has a name: “Noedra – the Mind of the Grid”. Our new, unified digital grid portfolio is designed to structure, guide, sense and protect the grid better than ever before. It will allow us to not only digitize products, but whole energy systems. This way, we can move from reactive operations to optimized, predictive, and autonomous grid performance.

In a world where our hunger for energy is growing faster than ever, AI is turbocharging this appetite! Data centers are emerging at an astonishing speed – and we need a lot of energy and investment to power this boom.

That’s why I was pleased to discuss the evolving landscape of data center investment during a panel at the Datacloud Global Congress 2025. In fact, top priorities for data center providers remain energy security, market scale, robust supply chains, and the role of skilled workers.
